This last weekend while shipping my older bike to Alabama for Collegiate Nationals, it was damaged in transport (thanks UCSB). With my new bike being built while I type - I would like to insure it some way shape or form. How do you guys insure your bikes, all the time? Should I try to get under my parents homeowners insurance? Or are there good separate bike insurance companies????

Thanks!

You need to call the insurance company b/c all are different. I have USAA and I'm covered under my renters. If you get hit by a car then "usually" it's their fault.

Yeah i work for an insurance company and your bike would be covered on a homeowners/renters policy subject to your deductible. Most companies also have additional policy or a rider you can buy that has no deductible for high ticket items like jewelry and computer but last year i did some research to see if i could get my bike covered and the company i work for (state farm) excludes bicycles on those type of policies.

Help me raise money for the LAF by donating anything that you can. Thank you so much!

I have mine on my homeowner's policy and the bike is covered under all situations.

mine got stolen out of my garage. my insurance company was happy to help, but it took some convincing with receipts to make them believe it actually costs $4,000. but without anything extra on my homeowner's I was able get a check (minus my deductable of course)
