Clueless in Race Nutrition
Personally, I use Cytomax and Gu. I've tried other things and these are the ones that I feel good with.
Nutrition is a very personal thing. If you work well on Gatorade and GU, Go for it! Don't be afraid to experiment in training, but don't let someone tell you that the strategy you've worked on is not optimal. After all, they're not feeding you.

This is one of the things about endurance sports that drives folks crazy. There is no formula. Period. You have to find what works for you. Get three endurance athletes together and you'll get anywhere between 5 and 7 opinions about whats good and what isn't.
Some like nuun others Succeed! still others e-caps. I swear by Power Gel, Magic beans and Blocks, like the taste of Hammer gel,but I burn through it too fast and get hungry too quick. Gatorade works fine for me but I can't seem to stomach any liquids from Hammer. Pepsi Rocks!
You have to find what works for you....
My recommendation is to try all this stuff in training conditions and see what works.
All companies say theirs is the best...And you can't go by what others use and it's worng for them to tell you your nutrition is garbage...If it works for you.
Experiment.

Have to second what Anton has said above. The main reason I've got the other thread (HIM/IM nutrition) up is to simply see what other people use, for ideas of stuff to try that I might not have thought of.

It's all personal -- if you have things you like and that work for you, use them.
Personally I avoid HFCS in as much of life as I can, so even if those worked for me I'd look for another option.

Hi All:
I've been around alot more race environments in the last few months, and I've noticed everyone has their own ideas and principles of race day nurition (i.e. during and immediately after the race)
I know what to eat while training, for health and optimal recovery, but in the race itself there are sooo many options.
I've used GU in the past, and had luck with it, but many people are telling me its not optimal.
I've used Gatorade Endurance Formula most of the time, but there are still skeptics of that, due to the high fructose corn syrup.
Are HammerGel, Cytomax, Accelerade, Powerbar, CarbBoom!, Nuun, and all these other tri-staples really that different from one another?
