Of course it's 'effing hard, it's IRONMAN!
Hey!
Awesome job. I found the only nasty part was Framingham, as there was winds and rain thrashing me around.
Congrats again!

There were a few nasty sections. We just tried to keep positive and tell ourselves that it was refreshing. There were also alot of people drudging up memories of 2004 and the heat. These conditions were a treat compared to that year.

Congratulations on a great race in pretty horrible weather!
I ran Boston in 2004 in the heat and I'm glad I ran in the hot one instead of the cold, windy and rainy one! The worst part had to have been sitting under the tent trying to stay dry and warm while you were waiting for the race to start. At least they moved the start up to 10:00 a.m.

wow 3:25!! nice! And even in that crazy weather.
And are you still feeling you can continue IM training?
I won't get back into the IM training 100% until I feel I am fully recovered, but I feel like I should be able to get back in the pool tomorrow and I did a very easy 12 miles on the trainer tonight. It is really surprising and unusual to feel this good two days after a marathon.
If I can start pushing the pace in the pool and on the bike by the middle of next week I will be psyched. If I can't, I will try the next week. The IM isn't until Sept. so I can be somewhat patient.

Congrats to all IMAZ finishers. I was thinking about you guys/girls this past weekend.
My Boston trip did not start out very well. I flew from Philly to Boston with my dad and have never felt anything like the turbulence we experienced on the takeoff. We were fishtailing like crazy and the landing in Boston was supposed to be similar. The landing was eventful but successful. Unfortunately my bag did not make the trip with me. The good news was I had my sneakers and running gear in my carry-on. The bad news was my rain gear and warm clothes were in my lost bag.
The weather on Sunday was as bad as it gets. It was tough sleeping Sunday night because my hotel faced the harbor and the wind and rain pelting the window was driving me crazy.
I was able to buy some warm clothes and a rain jacket at the expo so I was prepared for the wait at the starting area. The field behind the high school at the staging area was a muddy watery mess. We got a spot under a tent and put everything we find on the ground to keep dry. It poured on and off and the only real problem was waiting in the bathroom lines.
After dropping off my bag at busses I suffered until the start. All I had to keep warm was a garbage bag, but I was confident that I would be sorry if I wore a jacket to race in.
I was right and felt great with shorts and a long sleeve shirt on during the run. It was the first marathon of the 14 I have run that I ran with someone. My good friend and fellow CC coach ran with me and it was his first time. We stayed together for the first 8 miles untile I had to pull over with some stomach issues. I felt like I was developing a kidney stone. Fortunaltely the sensation went away after relieving myself a few times.
It took me 4 miles to catch my friend. We then took a nice easy pace for the second half. Our goal was to run 3:50-3:45. My goal was to minimize the soreness so I can continue my IM training as soon as possible. We had a great time soaking up the atmosphere and ended up finishing in 3:25.
The weather ended up being fine for the most part, although I was shivering uncontrollably 5 minutes after finishing. I felt great an hour later and today my soreness is minimal.
Overall it was the most enjoyable marathon experience I have had to date. Looking forward to tri season next.
