It all started some time ago when the bug bit. I vaguely remember thinking....

Triathletes are all crazy - now I'm one (and loving it)
Clip my shoes to my pedals are you insane - now I'd never ride any other way
Clip into my mountain bike, no way - now those bruises don't really hurt that bad
Ride aero, I'll kill myself - well I took that next step and finally had aeros put on my road bike. I'll test it out tomorrow - any advice for a first timer...........

Take it nice and steady - and use a bike path or isolated street, so that you can focus on what you are doing and not near any traffic.
You'll love 'em!

Doesn't hurt to spen a little time on the trainer the first few times you use your aerobars...good way to get the basic feel.

1. Don't use them on the downhills at first.
2. When you come out to get to your brakes, move your arm slowly and deliberately. You are less stable while on the aerobars, so sudden, jerky movements will affect your balance more.
3. Relax your shoulders and everything will feel better (I'm on year 3 of aerobars and still working on this concept).
4. Your neck might be a bit sore to begin with. This is normal and should go away if you are in a proper position.
5. Enjoy the free speed!
