My first schedueled tri is set for the beginning of june, but i plan on doing one everyother weekend till the middle of august. should i plan on peaking for the first race or wait till later in the year.

right now im on a collegiate cycling team, so i've been biking hard since november. My goal now with only 2 weeks left on my cycling season is to maintain where i am bikewise and start working on my running and swimming. If i've been running about once and week plus ive been doing all the biking, do i still need to start out doing a slow base phase in my run training??

Here, read this:

This probably will not come out right but it goes something like this:

Table 9.3. Mesocycle subperiod durations by age category.
Period Young Athlete Older Athlete
Prep (wks) 2-6 2-6
Base 1 4wks 3wks
Base 2 4wks 3wks
Base 3 4wks 3wks (repeat)
Build 1 4wks 3wks
Build 2 4wks 3wks (repeat)
Peak 1-2wks 1-2wks
Race 1-2wks 1-2wks
Transition 1-4wks 1-4wks

Yay for collegiate cycling! If I were you, I would recover a bit and then do base (heavy on the swimming and running) until your first race and peak later. Have fun!
