So forget all those fit questions I was asking. I went and talked to a pro on Monday. He put me on a medium '07 Specialized Transition Expert just to size me up, but it was too small. So he stuck me on a large Pro. It was juuuuust right...except the price! So they shipped a large Expert over from another store. It came in this morning. I took it for a 30 minute test ride over some nice varied terrain. They messed with the fit a little bit (haven't had it "officially" fitted, yet) and got it nice and comfy. Turns out it's tough to fit me on a bike because I have short legs and a looooooong torso. The guy said short of doing a custom frame, this is just about the only bike that'll fit me. It has a 50cm ST (C-T) 44cm ST (C-C) and 54.8cm TT (C-C), 76° ST angle, 72° headtube angle.

Good lawd! This thing is fast! Rear DA, front Ultegra, Ultegra brakes, DA shifters, FSA SL-K cranks, Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels, Profile Cobra s-bends. Honestly, except the base-bar, I can't really thing of anything I have to swap out. The wheels are fine for training, but I'll be saving up for some race wheels. I'm also going to have to get a seat-mounted water bottle setup. It's rocking my Keo Carbons off the road bike for now.

I'm going out for an hour ride this afternoon to get used to it and give it a nice introduction to the road.

Nice bike. Bling bling on the color. Gonna get some spinner race wheels to totally pimp it out?

Forget about the rear mount bottle carrier and just get cages for your frame. Easier, faster, and more aerodynamic. I only use mine for long unsupported rides anymore.

Have fun with it! Wait till you get the first scratch! :D

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I don't care about scratches. I got over the new bike thing about 3 bikes ago. Frame cages are more aero?

How much would it cost to chrome the Ksyriums? :p

There are two major factors that determine aerodynamics: frontal area (everyone knows this one) and flow separation behind the person/bike. The reason why aero tubing is sharper on the leeward side is that it reduces flow separation behind the tube. Putting cages on the frame, especially on the seat tube, actually improves aerodynamics on most bikes (ones with full rear-wheel cutouts are the exception). It will cause the air to flow over the space between the seat tube and rear wheel without flow separation, which means less drag.

Also, if your body position is good, there will be some laminar flow behind you (less drag than turbulent), but the seat-mounted bottles will cause there to be a separation of that flow (more drag).

Sorry for the nerd answer. :D

Nerd answer is good!

As for the wheels, I'm going to cover some 808s with mylar. That'd be hot!

Oh, and the ride this afternoon? I don't have a computer on it yet, so I can't tell you how fast I was going, but I felt fast!

I just finished the build on my transition last week. And I can agree that the ride is fast. Enjoy it, that is a beautiful bike!
