I will be vacationing in the St. Pete Beach area May24-29 and would like to find someplace and someone to train with while there. I would really like to do a trail run or MTB ride ( if I can rent or borrow a bike).

I would be more than happy to return the favor for anyone vacationing in the corn infested utopia known as Indiana.

How good are you on a mountain bike?

Stop snickering. I mean it. If you're game I know a choice spot about 1 hour or so away from St. Pete Beach. What size bike so you ride?

Otherwise, check out the St. Pete Mad Dogs. They have open water swim practice on Wednesdays (i think) in the evening. The Pinellas trail is a long, interrupted bike trail that runs pretty much the length of the county. Its hot, but in the morning it wouldnt be too bad. And its a good way to get yourself up to Tarpon Springs for some EXCELLENT Greek food.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

No snickering here ... How good am I ? I have been riding about a year and my aerobic level and Gonzo attitude often times overreach my technical skills - translation: I have crashed a few times. I would but up for most any challenge. Currently I am riding an 18" Trek 6700.

A little background music please - I have been running for about 22 years, cycling on and off for about 18, tri training about 2 and adventure racing about 1 year. I am not the fastest horse in the race but like a stubborn mule I will be there in the end.

Summary - I am up for the choice spot you have in mind, as far as the open water swim - I will have to see.

Well, we usually hit the trails on Sundays. That may change, as I might be under going a work schedule change in the near future, but hopeully not. If sunday is no good, I could likely make it out there on a Monday, too.

As far as bike's, you would prolly be better off renting, unless I can get ahold of a firend who hasnt been riding and borrrow his rig. A days rental would be $30 and the ride is well worth the price of admission.

Keep in touch and we can work it out.
