Dizzy/disoriented out of the water...
Hi there, I too get this, but usually in a race only, when I get out of the water and run to T1 with my wetsuit half on. I think it has something to do with the blood being in your upper body from swimming and then having to quickly start pumping into your legs. I have nearly passed out in transition a few times! Can't say I have too many solutions though...
It's from working hard horizontally, then standing up and running....your blood does crazy stuff. If you ever sit and watch transition, some people will fall over (pretty funny!). There's not much to really do about it, you just kinda have to deal, but if you kick out the last 50m or so of the swim, it will help move the blood down to your legs early and lessen the effects. It's kinda like spinning out at the end of the bike to get ready for the run.

Not fast enough.
This happens to me all the time - wetsuit or not. Like said before, it's from being horizontal and then very quickly becoming vertical. I hate it when I have to stand there for a minute while everyone goes running by but I take my time, because I have almost fallen before.

exactly, me too.
a little like the rubber legs going from bike to run eventually you get used to it and figure out a way to deal with it

I'm training for an Olympic. The last 2 weeks I went to the lake to swim with the wetsuit on in cold water. While in the water I feel fine/strong. When I get to the shore and stand up...I get very disoriented as if I were drunk. I've never experienced this in my life.
After 3-5 minutes I am fine. The bike and running are w/o problem. Heart rates are normal, etc.
Is this normal? Is there something to be concerned about. There are NO lingering effects. Just a temorary dizziness that has me worried about the first transition.
P.S. I am very strong stomached. I ride spin and puke rides/ roller coasters, etc and NEVER have issue. I never get sea sick, etc. Also...I am in good aerobic shape...been swimming pool laps for about 3 months, etc.
The only NEW variables are a wetsuit, COLD water, and a semi-murky lake.
Anybody else ever experience this?
