Kudos on a nice run....negative split, huh? Looks like all that base will pay off pretty soon!

Not fast enough.

Well here it was. The morning to officially knock the cob webs out of the old running legs and road race for the first time in 2007. The Monument Ave 10K in Richmond Virginia is one of the largest 10K's in the States with 24,000 registered runners. 24,000 participants takes an unreal amount of planning and coordination but this race went off perfectly.
As for my race, I was very happy. Deep into my HIM training plan I have yet to do much speed work so a 10 K seemed to almost be a sprint but I managed to place 143 overall and 18th in a very hard age group with a finish time of 39:33. Not a bad time for the first race of the year, but what made me really happy was the fact that I was able to negative split the race. My first 5 k was 20:02 and I really pushed it home.
Next weekend is the 3 sports Long course Duathlon in Richmond (Worlds Qualifier) and then I ease it off until HIM Orlando in May.
Hope everyone who raced in CA kicked some tail today.
