Tufo Gluing Tape for Tubulars
I have heard it works well. IN fact the pro teams use the tape too as I understand. I have not done it yet but will be trying it soon and will make a post once I have tried it.
Definitely easier than gluing, and I haven't had any problems after a few months. I'd definitely use it again. Though I haven;t had to get a tire off yet.
It's about as strong as gluing and much easier. The only problem is that when you push glue to its lateral force limits it will give a little and you'll feel the stretch (and hopefully ease up a bit before you roll the tire off), but with tape, the failure is very sudden. There's no stretch and the tire just pops off all at once. Of course, this takes a lot of force. It'll probably only happen when the tape is getting old, the rims are hot from a long descent, and you lean the bike over really hard.
I've only come close to rolling one once, but that was at the end of a technical crit with hard braking over cobbles on old glue where I was coming through a tight turn at about 30 . I had to swing wide to keep the tire on when I felt it stretch (ruined my sprint position in the group, dammit!), but I was glad that it didn't pop off and make me crash out. Unless you ride super hard, there shouldn't be any problems (I've seen pros roll tires....ouch). If you're just using them for tris and TTs, though, there is very rarely a course that requires you to put the tires through that much, so I wouldn't worry about it unless you're doing long descents or hilly crits.

Not fast enough.
I use the tape (extreme) for tris here in Oz and the temps in some races can get up to 35-40 degrees celsius. It s great, no mess and if you need to carry a spare for long course it fits perfectly into a toothbrush container.
Talking to the LBS, he said the only problem he has seen with the Tufo tape is that Zipp won't warranty their carbon wheels, since the tape has pulled a carbon layer off on some wheels. I'm using it on a set of Hed-3C's, and I haven't had any problems like that. I love the stuff!

I emailed TUFO about using the tape and they said they had not had any trouble with it being used on HED wheels, but didn't mention other manufacturers. As for Zipp, they have a habit of not honouring warranties from experience of people I know (including people who sell thier wheelsets), so I'm not surprised they wont for TUFO.
OzTriGuy,
Makes me glad that I went with the HED-3c's now... My only complaint about the HED-3c's is when it really hot 95+ deg, even with the Carbon Brake Pads, these wheels shriek like you wouldn't believe... It really turns heads though, and people look to see what is happening.

Anyone use this product at all? It seems like it would simplify the process but Im not sure about the quality, Thanks.
