half marathon
how hard will you run the half?
everyone recovers different but I wouldn't expect a PR on the race 2 days after.
proud and high or low and humble - many miles before I go

Is this your first long distance race? What do you run in track?
I'd say check in with your coach, but he or she would probably hang you by your lightweights if they knew you were pounding out a half the week of meets.
Seriousily though, your performance probably will be affected in the meets, stiffness some aches and pains depending on your endurance level.
It really depends on what you expect out of both events.

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
If I was your coach, I would slap you for even thinking about it.
It wont be conductive for you at all. You could half ass the half mary, and still not be 100% at the first meet, or you could try to rock the long race and SUCK at potentially all the meets.
Focus on track for the remainder of the season, especially if your primary tri distance is sprint. Youll love the speed youve got heading into the season.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Triguy is right. There is nothing to gain from a half marathon during your track season. There will be plenty of half's all summer long. Last time I looked, 13.1 miles was not a College track event either. You have your whole life to go longer.......dont rush it.
If I were your assistant coach...i'd be in line behind Triguy...You're 16...relax! Have a great track season then aim for an early summer 10 miler or half...Of course ...you are 16 and you're going to look at all this old geezer advice and ignore it...And next week after your track events suck or worse, you injure yourself and the rest of your season is blown you will have learned a very valuable lesson.
Good luck and let us know what you decide...

As a coach I would say absolutely not. Track can be somewhat individual but it is also a team sport. You will not be 100% for any of the meets. 3 meets in one week is tough enough, especially if you are running middle distance and multiple events. Listen to all the above reasons and save the half for the offseason.
fine I won't do the half marathon I'll just wait till next year sometime other than track but thanks for the input!

I want to do a half marathon on april 1 but 2 days later I have a track meet then two more track meets that week. My question is will I have enough recovery time in between the half marathon and my track meet.
