sprint tri, need a good time
some generic ones at trinewbies.com, slowtwitch.com, and triathlete.com and I assume here as well but they are specific for you and your strengths and weaknesses might want to check local tri clubs for recommendations for coaches

I would assume you have been putting in a lot of time already.
Here's the thing- four months isnt a whole lot of time to get tuned up by a coach for an A race, IMO. The coach would basically be just walking you through your build and peak periods.
Check out Gale Bernhardt's book "Training Plans for Multisport Athletes" and Joe Friel's "Triathletes Training Bible." Use the knowledge gained from Friel's book to Modify Bernhardt's plans to suit you, then STICK to it. Nothing worse than changing your plan halfway through, especially if it is well though out.
You might be able to get a customized training plan off of just about any online coach's websites, but they use the same info that is available in those books, with a little individual philosophy thrown in. They charge some serious cash for those plans, tho.
I looked into an online coach for this year, thinking I could use a little guidance and might save some money over a personal coach. Just about crapped my pants when I heard what their "value" packages priced at and what they consisted of. Intsead, I spent the off season reading and rereading Friel's book and came up with my own plan that seems to be progressing just fine. I am glad I didnt shell out the dough for the coach. Its all a matter of how much you trust yourself, how well you can stick to a plan, and executing that plan without outside harrasment.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
I was thinking a real world coach to catch form problems and to work on his/her weaker events. but that's my lousy .02 - don't know how much a coach like that would cost.
good luck by the way

It all depends on how much you want to spend... Through a dollar figure you want to spend and I can help guide you.
It does depend on how much you're comfortable spending. Triguy made some very good points, but I wouldn't rule out the option of a coach without at least looking into it.
Coaches are relatively expensive, but they also have advantages - they can answer questions better than a book. A coach can also formulate a customized plan in far less time than you could by studying books and then formulating one yourself. And, as mentioned previously, a coach can help you fix flaws in your form that would go uncorrected if you do it alone. Another advantage of a coach is that they often know how to find the best equipment at the best prices, which can add up to big savings if you're buying a lot of gear.
Best of luck with whatever route you decide to take!
I use trainingpeaks and am very pleased. My best at the end of last year was in the 1:20 range. I turned in a 1:05:14 at my first sprint of the year. If you have not been training that much, putting focus and discipline behind it can make a big difference.
4 months would give you enough time for some Base 3 type stuff and then build peak. Of course if you have no base established right now, 4 months is not a long time and its critical to have that foundation before turning up the volume.
I second the TrainingPeaks. I trained all last year, my first season of tri's, with no coach or plan or anything. Just went out and swam, biked with a fast group and ran.
Once I signed up for IMWI though I knew that wouldn't work and went to TP. Was using their virtual coach to set up a plan and then switched to the Program two weeks ago to get an actual coaches feedback.
You don't have a lot of time left but if you don't want to go the coached method at least the Virtual Coach in training peaks will ask you specific questions about your fitness, abilities, limiters and your race dates so I'm guessing it would help you squeeze in as good of a plan as possible in your time frame.

ok guys.
i am looking at doing the london triathlon, and at 15 i might be in the junior elite section, for a sprint triathlon. I need to be aiming of a time of 1 hour 5 mins, and i need either a REALLY good training plan, or a tri coach. can anybody recommend something? i have approx FOUR months, and am willing to put in a LOT of time.
p.s. my previous best is 1:20, without too much training, so the time 1:05 is ambitious, but not impossible.
cheers
