Thought I would say a quick hello from Perth Australia. This is my first season of triathlon and I am loving it. Was warned when I first started that I would become addicted and I am. I am currently training for a HIM in May and want to do Ironman WA in December this year. Looks like lots of hours training for me and this site seems to have lots of information from others. Thanks and hello!

G'day mate!

Welcome. This site is a great resource no matter where you live.

It does become addicting, besides it's a good way for me to get rid of work day stress...

According to the site I run, I'm guessing you are preparing for the Busselton Half Ironman Triathlon. Good Luck!

Hello Flip12, Me too! Except I did Busso Half last year as well. How are you looking forward to training in winter? Although, those in the Northern Hemisphere would call our winter a cool summer day...

Winter shall be interesting... Not really looking forward to it especially after this morning. Already feels pretty cold to me! I know we can't really say much though compared to the northern hemisphere! I always find it hard to get out of bed though when it is cold never mind to get out int he cold and train! Shall be a challenge.

How about the last 2 mornings? (March 27/28) 6 degrees is very cold for March! My biggest problem for winter training will be finding cycling partners. Need to find a group of like minded ironman hopefuls for those 160k rides. Most groups go too short and/or too fast for me with IMWA in mind...

We're just coming into our summer up in the northern hemisphere (the better half ;) ), i'd say our summer still aint as good as the aussie winters (if Neighbours is anything to go by anyway).

Anyway good luck with the training, swimming should be no problem to you (being Austrailian and all) so at least thats one down :D

I'm from Sydney and it's cold here for about a month during winter the rest of the season your only cold for 15 mins before you warm up! However on those days when it's cold, foggy and dark, having some good quality winter gear makes me get out of bed. I'm talking booties, skull cap, knee/armwarmes and your base layers and vests. it's almost exciting to put you expensive gear on. but i want to qualify for Olympic dist worlds in 2008 so i figure somewhere somebody is training so i might as well be too. i also work in a tri store here so it's not such a financial burden gearing up for winter!

dont get bitter, get better
