Today's swim called for 1 hr steady swim, constant effort. My LEAST favorite swim, sooooo booooring. I sometimes take splits every so often for 100's or 200's, but I gave up on counting laps as I would always lose focus.

So today I hit my start on my watch and away I went, intending to take splits every 5-10 minutes. Like the old saying goes, don't think of a pink elephant. So what do you do but think of a pink elephant. So when I told myself today I was not going to count laps, guess what....counted everyone and didn't loose track. Go figure. Ended up only taking one split, that was at 1.2 miles (29:30). Kept telling myself I was gonna loose track any second and to not worry just concentrate on pace, form, bilateral breating etc...no matter what couldn't loose track of the laps though.

Now if I try to do that again I bet I won't be able to keep track more than 15 minutes in!

Best part was that last August in training for a HIM I swam a 29:30in the same pool for practice but my RPE for that was much higher. Todays time was totally on cruise control and I finished the 2.4 miles at 59:30 and my HR was only 125 when I finished and I was not at all taxed.

Still, it's the worlds most boring swim. 1 hr of drills or intervals flies by, but 1 hr straight just plain stinks.
