Had my first race this past weekend. I am training for a HIM in May, so have not been really focused on the shorter fast stuff yet, but had a great race. Ended up 6th in age-group and only 1 minute off the podium.

Wanted to post a lesson learned for those doing sprint or even oly races -- transition time is key! (I know many people know this) but I really worked and practiced my transitions this week and was blazing fast -- :45 for T1 and :47 for T2. In a sprint, up at the top the times are so close, every second counts. To prove the point, my swim split was 18th out of 53, bike was 7th and run was 10th. I still ended up 6th (better than all splits because of my fast transition). Also, 3rd place through 7th place were all decided by about 1 minute 1:04:12 to 1:05:30, again showing that every second counts..

No more races until my HIM on May 5th.

Great job! A few of my friends/teammates raced MAP this past weekend. I'm happy that we have the overall winner coming with us to Collegiate Nationals this April! The overall female is blazing fast and will probably kick my ass tonight at a local TT!

The NCTS sprints are fun but it's good that you aren't racing anything else until White Lake. White Lake is a blast. Keep on training and see you in May!
