need heart rate monitor advice--polar f6 woman's
Sorry can´t help you there.
The important thing i think is learning to train with a HR monitor.
Any polar model is better than no HR at all.
Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)
I don't know about the Polar models, I didn't end up with one because I wanted a HRM and watch all in one, didn't want to have two things on my wrists. So I got the Timex Ironman HRM with chrono, timer, alarm, etc. etc. I've really liked it so far, it just took the place of my old Timex Ironman watch, which I've used forever, so it was very easy to use.

I have the Polar F6 and would definitely get the Timex instead. I have a Timex Ironman watch and love it - they last forever. The Polar isn't as durable - I dropped it once and had to send it in to be fixed. The Polar also has a watch and keeps track of workout data, but it didn't have a stop feature for splits. I also found the face on the Poloar to be harder to read, expecially at night with the backlight (but I have old eyes).
Hope this helps - Ant

Very interesting. I've read that the Timex ironman isn't durable! That's good that you haven't had problems with yours. Thanks for the insight!

HUH??? I dont know of any of the Polar's that DON'T have a HRM and watch.
Any Polar will be great. My ONE suggestion is make sure it has a back light. I know some of the ones (lower number --I have the S525) don't have one. I do a lot of running early or late and during the winter months this translates to running in the dark. The back light is essential. Absolutely LOVE mine. Easy to use and I wear it daily as my watch since I am too lazy to take it off and switch for my workouts. I only wear my regular watches on weekends or "days off".
Ok. I think I'm going to go ahead & get the Polar F6 because I can't justify the $ of the Garmin since I don't even know if I'll use it a lot! Thanks so much for everyone's input.

I NEVER thought I would use mine and now its a "fixture" on my wrist. My husband got it for me for a bd present and its one of the most useful things he has ever gotten me. Once you get it and figure it out you will love it.

Sorry, I meant a chronograph, with splits. I like to keep track of splits in a race, and I wanted HRM info too. The Polars I saw don't give both, so you would have to wear both a Polar and a watch. My Timex HRM has a full watch, chronograph with splits, and countdown timer (which I use for cadence or strides or whatever), all with the HRM data on the same face. It's very handy.

That's the same reason I'm going back to Timex........

AHHH GOTCHA!! Mine does have that --- maybe some don't though.
The 625x has splits and an auto lap feature so you don't have to hit the lap button to create the split.
It may be that the other models of Polars don't have the memory to record and monitor these but I just did intervals yesterday with the touch of a button. Set the time/distance or HR for the interval and the watch tells you when to pick up the pace and when to recover.
When its time to replace yours take another look - they have come a long way.

Mine's about a year old and I guess like everything else, each year they improve. I'll do more research before I'm ready to buy another.

I've never used a heart rate monitor. I'm considering buying the Polar F6 woman's heart rate monitor. Does anyone have experience with it to share? Pros & cons?
