Quick Question on Bike Fit/Size

I just ordered a Cervelo Dual (for which we still need to work out some details) but they are telling me that the size I should purchase should be 56 cm. This just happens to be the only size they have in stock but they insist that some 58's and 60's will be in shortly and they aren't trying to get me to buy the 56. They just feel that the 56 cm is the right size.

I'm 5 ft. 10 1/2 inches tall and it just seems that 56cm is small from what I hear everyone else saying.

As a note, I'd say I have average length arms and legs.

Please give me your thoughts on this.

Thanks

CJ

did they put you on the bike? or is this a phone/internet order. depending on your inseam and torso length 56 isn't uncommon for a 5'11" 6' guy. Espaecially on a tribike where you want to be in a comfortable aero postion. I'm 5'11' and have a 58 road bike that is a little big. I tried Felts and Cervelo's (road) and would opt for a 56, as well the Trek TTX medium (which is 56), so it should be fine if they fitted you for it.

tribro,

Thanks for the quick reply. No, it's an internet order. My plan is to take it in for a fit as soon as I get it. I have 30 days to return it if it isn't right....but I wanted to make sure that I wasn't making them ship something that I know wasn't going to work.

It sounds like I should let them ship it and do the fit when it gets here. I will know quickly whether it was a wasted effort.

Thanks

All bike MFG's are different. For my tri I was a 54 in the Trek but the store also sold Cannondale and the 54 was too big for me. I'm sure there are some differneces between what you are looking at and Trek, but I'm 5'10 also so I would not think that the 56 would be too small for you.

FWIW, I'm a hair over 6' and am currently riding a 56cm Cervelo P2SL. Everyone fits differently, but there's a very good chance you'll be fine on the 56.

I was just went through a lengthy fitting for a Cervelo P2SL yesterday; I am 6ft1 and a 56 was a perfect fit when in the 78deg seat position and on the aerobars. This surprised me because i was dead set on getting a 58.

While they also recommend a fitting, Cervelo's website gives rough estimates on height/size and puts you either on a 56 or a 54:

48cm - 5' to 5'6"
51cm - 5"5 to 5'9
54cm - 5'8 to 5'11
56cm - 5'10 to 6'1
58cm - 6'0 to 6'4
61cm - 6'3 and up
