The thread title says it all. I'm in a strap-in boot now, running is impossible, and cycling is starting to hurt too. I'm pool-bound for at least two weeks, with IMAZ just around the corner!

Here's the lesson: if you start having foot pain, check it out IMMEDIATELY, lest it get so bad you have to get a boot :-(

ARG! Sorry to hear that. That really stinks... You are only about 6 weeks out from IMAZ. Hopefully, you can recover it in time, but be careful not to push it and really hurt yourself.

I don't have much experience. (Never done an IM or 1/2IM, just a 1/2-1/3 blend)

BUt I can tell you one thing...ever since I started doing Yoga one day a week I have been Injury free.
Can't imagine starting Yoga with all the training you must be doing or if it's a good idea with your current injury (i'm no doctor).

But if you want to give it a try i would recomend YogaToday.com there's a free 1 hour class each day that you can download in 3 different formats.

Some days classes are for beginers, others for intermediate and others for advanced. Be sure to do only the begginer ones when you first start. Give it a try is realy good and it will keep you healthy... PLUS its free!!!

Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)

I am sorry to hear that my friend...
Take gooooodd care of it...keep it up with your work in the pool...
6 weeks might be enough time to heal...
Best wishes man...keep us post

I injured my achilles in mid December. I had a slight tear and developed tendonitis. I went to a week of PT 3-4 weeks ago and started with fast walking 3-weeks ago and am back to running, albieit a bit slower then before I injured it. Today at lunch I did 55 minutes on a treadmill at about a 8:15/mile pace and it didn't feel too bad. Definitely is a annoying setback though, but I was lucky it didn't hurt to bike so for a month and a half I either did a waterjog or bike in lieu of a scheduled run. Good luck, I feel your pain!

That really sucks. Between swimming and aqua jogging, you should be able to maintain fitness. I hope it heals up enough to let ya race. Good luck.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

Hey all, thanks for the support :-) It's really nice to have a place like this where my rants fell onto empathetic ears. I'm convinced it'll heal up in time. I'm gonna cross that finish line, hopping on one foot if necessary :-D

If it's any consolation I was doing hill rpts yesterday and cramped up the gatrac. Still feel something this morning too. Hopefully it will go. I feel for ya. Just massage and rest it.

My physical therapist is either:

1) magic
2) miraculous
3) a voodoo witchdoctor
4) all of the above

She put me in a boot, had me do a few simple exercises, rubbed out the tendons ... and 5 days later, I feel 80% better! This was a chronic pain I've had since January 1, and which got progressively worse throughout the year. I thought my IMAZ plans were doomed ... but I'll be there for sure. Just gotta be sure to let it heal from 80 to 100% before coming back to the big training days. Hoooooooooo-raaaaaaaaaaaay!

*chuckle*

I feel the same way about mine. I've gone from having trouble walking at times due to my knee to almost no pain. Now it's just the rehab to be able to run again without pain.
