In the other thread, Jfuentes05 asked if anyone can state the real difference or advantages of the Rocket over the Chrono? I thought since know one responded, I would post again about it as it's a question I'd like to hear some thoughts around. From what I see on the sites, the Chrono is $100 cheaper and is 19g lighter. The only difference I see with the rocket is possibly the area over the earws is lower and a few additional vents on the back....

Any comments??? I wan tto buy an aero helmet within the week....

Yeah, go on over to Slowtwitch, they recently had this debate. In typical Slowtwitch fashion, it devolved into arcane wind tunnel testing data with both sides screaming that the other was wrong! LOL!
Bottom line, get whichever one is more comfortable for you. Yes, the Rocket is a bit faster in the tunnel data (remember weight isn't the key to aero, disc wheels wiegh more than conventional but their aero advantage provides more velocity) but it covers your ears and has a very long tail. I personally like the long tail as it rests between my shoulder blades as a reminder to keep my aero position solid.

What kind of mph increase could you expect from an Aero helmet, all things being equal?

Kind of depends on how fast you go. For me, the addition of my Zipp 404's on my bike seems to give me about .5mph, the helmet based on the few rides I have done with it looks to be maybe another .75mph, so taken together overall you can pick up at least 1-1.5mph. I think thats a fairly common consensus.

Hey hey. I got the Rocket yesterday and went out for a little spin. Still have to try it out for a real ride but with my 404s and the helmet I must agree w Red, I saw a speed increase as well. At HR144-145 I was going about 2km (max/hr) w the same effort. At least that was the perception. Advice if ya got the $....get it.

I'll be doing IM KY....and from what I just read it may just be the hottest IM venue on the circuit. Not so sure if an LG is going to be the way to go. Those of you who have ridden w/the Chrono or Rocket--what's the noggin temp like compared to a standard helmet?

How fast are you riding when you get those gains?

Yeah, I don't want to over sell this point I made and I have absolutley zero real imperical testing data to support it. I posted in another thread the tale of 2 rides I did a week apart over the same route with similar conditions and saw a .75 mph improvement with the helmet, but that is very subjective. From a preceived exertion standpoint and from just plain "feel", it definatley "feels" like I move faster. The same can be said regarding my Zipp wheels.
Having said that, my first ride was 22.3mph average over 50 miles, the second with the helmet was 23mph.
There is wind tunnel testing which has shwon that aero helmets are better.

Was that for a full IM? I figure, even in the South, for a Sprint or Oly it won't get that hot, given our on the bike for only 30ish minutes on a sprint...
