Trainer wheel question
I use a slightly older Mavic wheel on the trainer. I am not really sure why but it has just become a habit that I only use that one. I have a set of Zipp 404s and 808s and I just don't want to waste miles on the trainer on those wheels because they are significantly more expensive. A few friends of mine actually bought a really cheap wheel specifically to use on the trainer.

Does anyone know which wheel would be better to use outdoors. The Gipiemme is slightly more aero I think. The Neuvation is about 200 grams lighter.
The other thing I was worried about is if I possibly messed up the Gipiemmes after spending about 600 miles on the trainer... They seem fine I think I just thought I would ask
The trainer may wear out tires but it should be softer on the wheel part since there is no shock due to potholes, cracks, speedbumps, rocks, etc. or vibration from rough surfaces.
With all that resistance I doubt your body can tell what you're riding on so go with the cheap wheel and cheap rubber.
Happy spinning.

Just as a note, one thing to watch for if you swap wheels out for the trainer...uneven wear and tear between your chain and your cassettes.

Ok out of my own lazyness I bought another wheel set it is a Neuvation R350. I also got another Shimano ultegra 10speed cassette and mounted it to the new wheels. Now I can change back and forth between trainer wheels and road wheels.
Which brought up a interesting question which one would you guys use as trainers and which as normal?
Gipiemme 716 Tecno's
or
Neuvation R350's
Both are not new wheels the Gipiemme I know has about 1k outside miles and 600 trainer...
Opinions????
