Orlando 70.3
I'll be there but I haven't done it either. The run looks great, supper flat, the bike has it's ups and downs. Lets hope it's a cloudy day that day...

I did this race last year as my first triathlon. I had a blast. Fun day. One thing I'd say, is that last year, the run was three loops through some dirt trails. Lots of trees that blocked any breeze, but provided no shade! It was HOT on the run. Really hot. Be prepared to drink, drink and drink some more. I wasn't ready for the heat and struggled a lot during the run. Anyway, have fun and good luck!
Did this one last May. Love the course. The swim temp is great...wetsuits are usually ok. The bike has some nice rollers toward the end which gets you out of the saddle. The run was three loops, and like someone said, partially through dusty grass. That ruined my shoes and I had dirt up to my knees. Plus it was the hottest day of the year, and I didn't plan on needing extra electrolytes, so I cramped up at the end. It is Disney, so be expected to be overrun by crying kiddies and goofy employees, and to be nickle-and-dimed.
I am also doing it this year and looking forward to it. If you can stay at the Wilderness Lodge or the Port Orleans Resorts, you'll be very close to the race site. See you there :)

I did this race the past 2 years. It was well organized and a lot of fun, but like the others said - hot! In 2005, it wasn't as hot and it was bearable but last year was miserable. I also really struggled on the run. I wasn't prepared for that kind of heat, esp since I trained all winter and spring in New Hampshire (was there for work), so the heat was worse for me than usual.
Good luck and have fun! I always stayed at the Wilderness Lodge too.
They have changed the run course each year but it looks like this year will be the same as last years. The 3 loops is kind of nice b/c if your family is watching you get to see them more often, and really, that's what got me through the run is knowing they'd be there again and lift my spirits. The dirt sucked, but it was better than being on wide open asphalt like the course was the previous years.
The swim is a piece of cake - warm and gets your muscles really warmed up. The bike is a lot of fun in my opinion - flats and some rollers - you can really get a good constant pace for most of the course. I'm always sad when I have to get off the bike on this course!
Good luck and have fun!

I am doing my first HIM in May and I was wondering if any of you have done this race before, and could give me some insight. I know it will be miserably hot, but other than that, the transition times seem pretty long??? Any body else doing this race?
