the dreadmill hurts me.
are you running on it without any elevation setting? If so, that could be the problem...I put it on a .5 or 1 elevation.
Usually the treadmill is an asset. It has a much more forgiving surface than running on the road...and some would say trails too.
Running without elevation on the TM is akin to running down hill...which can tear up your legs....hence the .5 to 1 elevation.
How old are your shoes? Are you in the right shoe for you? How fast are you running? How far are you trying to run on the TM? Is it a good TM or a less expensive model? Do you have any gait mechanics problems? Lots of questions to investigate.

thanks for the tip. I didnt know about the elevation. I will try it on tuesday.
The shoes are only a couple of months old. I had my feet checked at a local running store and they set me up with some Brooks Adrenaline 7 shoes. I'm running between 8:45 and 10 minute miles depending on how I'm feeling and how my legs are holding up. I can only do about 3 miles on the TM before my shins start killing me. The rest of my legs are fine. Its a nice TM, its in the gym at my college. Also, I have good form.
Today, I ran about a mile on the TM and I was hurting really bad. So I walked around the halls for a while. Then I just ran around the track that goes around the gym. I felt great. So I think its the TM and not shin splints.

I have found that I cant go nearly as far on the dreadmill as I can outside. I feel like it really beats up my legs and especially my knees. Is this just me or is it typical?
