I used a Bengay patch on my shin while running the other day. Put it on 15 minutes prior hoping it would heat up shin, loosen it up a little so I doesn't bother me as much while running. Shin felt good the whole time which was nice. Other shin w/out patch hurt a little as usual. Tightness is more like it but it does effect my running. Thoughts on this practice...
