Work in a good amount of hill work and don't overspeed the downhills at the start, she'll need the juice at the end.
Good luck to her.

Structuring her longs runs to be relatively flat to downhill for the first 10 to 14 miles and then try to hit some hills for the remainder of the run will beneficial. It is hard to simulate the course because the first half beats ups the quads on the downhills. Make sure you tell her to enjoy the moment. It is an amazing experience. She can always return next year and try to race it.

Try this for advice, as well as tell her to include gentel but substantial downgrades in most if not all of her long runs. I tried to train for it, but the down grade beats up on your quads.
