Time RXS Pedals

Does anyone use Time RXS pedals. I have never used clipless pedals and am trying to decide between the Speedplay Zeros and the Time RXS pedals.

I would love to hear some reviews...........

I have a pair of RXS Carbon pedals that I've used for just over a year. I highly recommended this pedal and cleat system.

I really like the weight, feel, and responsiveness of the RXS. The connection to cleat is solid. Float is excellent, but your foot doesn't accidently slip into the float. The cleat really holds a straight line with the pedal well, which transfers pedaling power effectively. The float engages well when you actively move your foot into.

The pedal itself rolls very smoothly. I've found that I can put a tremendous amount of force on the pedal, yet the rolling continues to feel very smooth. Clipping-in is simple, although their is only one correct orientation -- so you have to flip the pedal into the "up" position.

In the past, I've used Ultegra, Look and Ritchey pedals. I haven't tried a SpeedPlay, so unfortunately, I can't give you a direct comparison of the two. Of the pedals that I have used, this is by far the best system that I've used. Weight, strength and performance are all at or near best in class of the other pedals that I've tried.

The only downside for me is on the cleat. The cleat is large and is slippery to walk on, especially on a slick surface like my garage. The cleat plastic is also somewhat soft. I do have a concern that if I walked on these cleats, I'd be replacing them often. So, while the cleat works exceptionally well with the pedal, I really don't walk at all in my shoes. I definitely wouldn't want to run through a transition area in these cleats.

Ironically, this is forcing me to learn how to mount my shoes on the bike and transition without my shoes on my feet.

Overall, I'd give the RXS pedals a solid 4 out of 5 on my rating scale. Check into the Speedplays as well, but know that you'll end up with a very good pedal if you end up going with the RXS.
