I´m sorry to ask this since I know I saw it before in another thread but I just couldn´t find it.

My A race is scheduled for Saturday Agust 18th, my training plan will start on March 12th.

The question is: I have learned of a race I would love to do on July 8th. It´s part of the same bike course and run course of my A race (let´s say a much shorter version of my A race).

Do you think doing this tri 1 month and 10 days before my A race is ok?? I realy am focusing on following my training plan and don´t know if that race is to close to my A race.

do you think it would affect my training plan?

A race is 2Km-60Km-14Km (1.25mile-37.5mile-8.75mile)
this race is 1Km-32Km-7Km ( 0.62mile- 20mile-4.37mile)

The thing is....I realy want to get the best time I can on my A race that´s my top priority this year. SO if it can affect my training plan in order to achieve my PR I would consider not doing it.

Look at yor training schedule for your A race on that day...is the workout similar to the race?
I don't think it would be a bad thing at all, especially since it's on part of the A race course...
Do the "B" race as a warm up..to "get the bugs out" of your transition.
You can always go easy and use it as practice..
Do it!

I would say go for it. Treat it as a long training day - use it to test out your fitness/nutrition strategy/clinks etc. Bear in mind that you will still need to train after the race so don't go at it like its the last race of the season. Have fun!

I'd agree with "go for it". Being parts of the same course and everything it's like a perfect race rehersal! Just make sure you are able to not push it so so so hard you burn out :)

I do a ton of races before my "A" events but the key is to remember that these other races are just training days and a way to gauge your fitness level. Do NOT taper for these events or do a recovery event for them. Just work them in like you would any other brick you do.

Good luck!

I am doing an Olympic race 3 weeks before IMAZ. It's an awesome opportunity to blow out the cob webs and get into the racing grove without trashing myself, and that is the advice per my coach, not some random Type A nonesense! I say go for it. :)

A month and 10 days is plenty. My plan actually has me racing sprints 5 weeks and 2 weeks before my A race. Gets the bugs out of the system and competitive juices flowing.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
