The Gasparilla 1/2 marathon is a week from Sunday, and I need some advice. My last three long runs have been 11, 11 and 12 (today). What should my longest run next week (Monday) be? And what should I plan on for shorter runs throughout this week and next?

The only limiter is that I'm still having hamstring/piriformis issues, and it was bothering me quite a bit this morning. Any thoughts on what to do from here

definitely shorter long run next weekend. 6-7 tops nothing you can do now will help your race only hurt it. you want your legs fresh for the race don't go long.

as for the hamstrings I got nuthing but - ice, rest, anti-inflammatories

proud and high or low and humble - many miles before I go

Star,

I always like to do a slightly longer run (6-8 miles) on the Wednesday before a Sunday 1/2. Then a 3miler on Thursday, Friday off, and 2 miles on Sat. I would also take off on the Tuesday of next week. I usually feel very fresh come Sunday morning.

All of this depends on your hamstring. If they hurt less is better. As JRH said, nothing you do now is going to get you into better shape. Good luck.
