Ok, I am getting things ready for IMAZ and see that rooms/accomodation in Tempe is rather expensive (for me), even the B&Bs. Anyone out there doing IMAZ wanna share the cost of a B&B? Anyone have any cheap suggestions???

Thanks

all depends on how far your willing to drive the morning of the event.

The less expensive options are going to be located in Mesa which is the town due east of Tempe. The problem is that there is no usable public transportation with the exception of buses to get you back and forth. So even though you may save $ on accomodations you may need to spend more on transportation.

Well, I am looking. Seems the hotels are WAY too much and the only option are B&Bs. Anyone know of some cheap ones in walking distance to transition?

BBB--Hey this may sound crazy. Check with the U. Sometimes Universitites with open dorm space rent out their rooms. Its right there in Tempe, and if I remember correctly not too far from the start.

I dunno about a dorm. I seem to remember that most dorms I've ever stayed in got awfully noisy on weekend nights. It might not be conducive to that solid night's sleep you would otherwise get before an IM. :)

I agree it would definitely be inexpensive--but it might not be worth it if college kids still act like they did during my time in the dorm. (And I acknowledge that I might have been part of the problem from time to time...)

BBB--Maybe try the IMAZ message board to see if you can find a roomie?

there are a couple cheap places in south tempe off of Apache
Americas Best hotel and Super 8.
You can also try and call the local mulitsport shope TRIBE Multisport and they may have some leads for people doing homestays or looking to share a place. Their number is 1-877-424-5372, Kevin is the owner/manager and a great resource. Good Luck!

....maybe I should rent out one of my rooms.... :)

cool thanks for the help guys. This is what I am looking for, we are a community of triathletes and should be helping each other out.

I know my room is open for anyone coming for IMC. You are more than welcome to stay in the transition from the plane in Vancouver to Penticton. Just contact me and I will help the best I can, no charge btw.

Or Traveler you could join the "homestays for triathletes" group here on trifuel... IM has enough expenses for the athletes! ;)
