Energy bars and Whey Protien
As far as what is best for you, make sure you take a look at the label so you know what you're eating. Some of those bars are really densley packed and can be 500-700 calories, more like a meal, some are in the 200-300 range ( I think these taste better) and some even lighter than that. When you look, also look at nutritional value and understand which ones have more of what and get a feel for how much heavily processed sugars and flours are in it, which may not be as good for you. Some may be diet designed to be high protein or fat free, just something to look out for. For sugars, the best rule is to stay away from high-fructose corn syrup, use more natural sugars (which are better on my stomach), like brown rice syrup, honey, raw sugar, etc.
Otherwise start trying some that look good, I think everyone's taste buds vary dramatically when it comes to energy bars and gels. My personal favorite at the moment is Odwalla bars, which are completely vegetarian if that matters to you, that is also something to look for.
The hammer nutrition whey protein is the best i have tried. How I define best is that it has little flavor and I can mix it into a smoothie and barely taste it, if at all.
I love Larabars. They have good stuff in 'em and they taste so good!
for whey protein i use Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard. its 25 grams per scoop (serving) and theres 77 servers for 30 bux. 30 if u have a gnc gold card and buy it in the first week then u get a total of 40% off. it digests very easily. doesnt keep u full. i have 2 scoops with 16oz of milk and im hungry within an hr of taking it
i like balance bars personally. they had a little less sugar than some of the rest that i looked at i think.
i have been using EAS whey protein, it was the only brand they had at sam's club, so i don't have much comparison. it mixes pretty nicely though.
Clif's protein bars are GREAT. And yeha, BJ's prices on bars cant be beat. I get my gatorade, pasta, sauce, PB, and protein/ energy bars from them and save a ton of money.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
I'm a Cliff Bar guy -- I love that they're all natural and they have a good variety of flavors. I use Champion 100% Whey Protien. I found a 5lb container at Sams for $18! I was in shock, as it's a good product and the taste and mixing is good.

I went to BJ's wholesaler today for the first time and found they have a huge variety of Energy Bars and Whey Protien's. Which is best? Cliff, Power Bar, Met RX, Kashi,... . There seems to be a endless stream most with some type of sugar in the top 3 ingredients. Which do most people like? Also whats a good whey protien to use. Right now I'm on the basic GNC chocalate.
