I've been at this a few years, and have used a couple different mthods to track and plan out my... plan. Last year was simply a printed out schedule and I logged my times and such on the Trifuel Log (which I LOVE, BTW.)

I was thinking this year of printing out a weekly spreadsheet with the specific workouts and goals on it, using Excel. My question is does anyone already have a template like this that they use? Any other suggestions? Other programs?

This sport is hard to keep track of and stay organized, so I figure not only will this thread help me out, but some others that may be pulling their hair out trying to plan out a season and training.

I've got a set of excel sheets that I use. One for the annual plan, one for diet and one for training. Ijust enter dates, foods and workouts and it's setup to do all the calculations, import the info from the annual plan to the weekly workouts, etc. It was pretty easy to setup and I've found it a great help.

Care to share? I have pretty much gotten then presentation part of all this down, but havent done the math or tying the sheets together yet. I could use some ideas on that.

Thanks! I hope I can get some ideas from that stuff for my own. I like the lay out I have come up with. I dont intend on using this as a log, as the trifuel stuff works great, but rather as training plan scheduling software.

JamieM,
Please do share your spreadsheet. It sounds great and I also have been looking for such a tool.

Joel Friel's Training Bible website has an excel spreadsheet for yearly triaining planning; it's the same form of the blank one in the book. I'm trying to start using it this year. Find it here

I couldnt find that one myself, so I drew up that sheet ( i think mine looks nicer ;) , plus a weekly sheet for detailed planning. There's no calculators involved at this point, but I am looking at incorporating some later.

Really funny thing about the example in the book is that I am eyeballing the Clermont half to wrap up my season, and Disney falls in at the appropriate time. Its like that example sheet is for me!

I use a more simple technique: I photocopy my training plan (this year is IM: Start to Finish, a 6-month plan) and put it on the 'fridge. I write the date next to the workouts. Every day I circle the workouts I did and prepare for the next day. That way I can track what I do day by day, month by month. I think I still have the sheets from last IM...it would be interesting to see how my workouts change this time around. I also write any injuries and races on that sheet. I personally don't need graphs and charts and all that crazy stuff...too confusing for my little brain :p

OK, finally got around to trying to post the excel sheets I use, and they're apparently around 50 kb over the site limit. If anyone is interested just PM me with an e-mail address and I can forward.
