I'm doing it and I'm a little nervous but the word I get is that it is beautiful. A woman I swim with did it last year and she's doing the long course this year. I asked her about the hills and the bike and she said anyone who rides in Northern California should have no problem. Translation - 'big hills but you've done them before' which is sort of true. I've done them at about 6 mph so I'm a little worried.

The run has a couple of very steep parts so you have to train for that.

It's still supposed to be very fun and very beautiful.

So, standard road bike or tri-bike.....which will you plan on using?

Some college friends and I have done the mountain bike course for the past couple years. Unfortunately I have no experience on the olympic course, but "they" say that it's a tough one. I can attest however, that the camping and general atmosphere is well-worth the trip.

use a tri bike for sure. the key is to take it easy getting up the short steep hilll at the beginning. there are alot of rolling hills, so you just have to pay attention to your efforts. save it for the run, its hilly and hard.

I'll be on a road bike, possibly with aero bars but I don't have them yet so we'll see.
