Hi all,

Ever since I completed a half marathon back in october, i have soreness on the right topside of my left foot. Regardless if I run on the treadmill, trail, or sidewalk i still have the pain. Anyone have the same problem or stretching solutions?

I had similar issues about a month or two ago. Turned out to be an inflamed tendon. With lots of ice, I was able to run through the injury and it healed in only a week or two after starting to ice it several times a day. Ibuprofen will also help reduce the inflammation to allow the foot to heal, but I never took any.....just ice. You should probably have someone look at it just to make sure that it is just an inflammation, though. Hope you heal up soon!

Do you happen to remember if you laced your shoes too tightly in the race? That can cause compression of the interosseus muscles (which run between your tarsals). Try first gentle massage between the tarsals, looking for the culprit area. Progress to light trigger point work several times daily and the pain should be gone in a few days.

In the meantime, loosen your shoelaces.

It could be something else, but I'd give this a try first.
