I'm looking into getting a new bike. I'm trying to keep it below $1000 or so, but I've noticed the Cannondale Sprint at a shop and may be getting it even though it's 500 more. Any suggestions?

I would recommend a Felt S32. It's actually a little less than the Sprint (Retail is $1350, but you can always talk shops down a bit), and it's spec'd out better, too. Cannondale makes nice bikes, but their triathlon frames always seemed like kind of an afterthought to their road bikes. Plus the felt has a more aero frame, and the seat tube is a bit steeper, which is probably the biggest advantage of a tri-bike after the aero bars. The steeper tube will give you more power in the aero position and take the pressure off your hamstrings, allowing you to run faster off the bike. One of my training partners has one and loves it....very fast and very comfortable.

Another great bike that won't break the bank is a Cervelo Dual. One of my roommates raced one all the way up until he went pro before getting a Cervelo Soloist for ITU races. It's a little more, but if you get it like one year old on eBay, you can probably get one for right around $1000. Good luck!
