1:05...yikes!
First of all it depends on the race.Hilly will be slower,of course. Flat, faster.
I looked at 8 different sprints in the DC/Va area.
The winning times in your age group varied from 1:05 to 1:17 on a hilly course. And these were not small races and are highly competitive. Many "serious" sprinters can go sub 1:00
Remember placing in your AG always depends on things out of your control... Who else shows up, mechanicals...whatever.
You should be very proud of your 1:05.

Great. Well I know I am on the right track. I am trying to work on my swimming which is my weakest area, but with such a short distance, it seems like it will be for little gain.
Thanks for the feedback!

In your region, what would an average sprint triathlon time be? Course length 500m, 20K, 5K. My first sprint triathlon last year I post a time of around 1:05 for a race of similar distance and placed 3rd in my AG (it was a small race).
What times would you expect most serious amateurs to finish in? I am trying to establish a goal similar to what I have done in marathon training to push myself.
