This just came to me and I thought everyone here might agree (or not). Since most of us eat healthier than the bulk of the population, we tend to eat out less. As a result, I think we have less of chance of getting food poisoning. I just read that about 300 people were ill after eating at an Indiana Olive Garden. That after Taco Bell and Taco John's both made folks ill in the past few weeks. Granted, the whole spinich thing could still get you, but generally speaking reducing your odds to 25% is better than the bulk of the population. Well, thanks for reading my wierd random thought for the day.

I live in the country and am able to grow a huge portion of my veggies. It is 16 miles to a town and we don't eat out much. And, I get to crosstrain in the plowing and hoeing, etc in the garden work. Also, I try to be as organic as possible...
So, I feel I am cutting the odds down for food poisoning. And, I am the one responsible for the safety of much of my food...I am blessed.

While I agree with you about fast food and large chain restaurants as being unhealthy, I do not think you should be worried about getting sick, fat yes, e coli no. I also don't think you should boycott restaurants alltogether. I own a restaurant and our staff is willing to accomidate any health needs (as long as we have the ingredients). So support your local restaurants and just try talking to them. Who knows maybe you might like it.

When my wife and I eat out (which we still do at least weekly), we go almost exclusively to local "mom and pop" type restaurants. The food's better in my opinion (though I do know of some good chain restaurants as well) and you get a good taste of the local flavor. And, you're supporting the local community - another big plus. Also, don't get me wrong, I'm not in any way shape or form worried about getting e. coli, just stating that by generally avoiding fast food, it's one less thing to have think about.
