ironman trraining program
The question,I think, is :"Can you sustain a high level of work for that long a time?"
If you don't let yourself "de-train" a bit will you start suffering burnout by may? Will injuries increase? Have you done 2 IM's in a year before? Lots of questions.
While I don't think you have to start over again you should let yourself get a little out of IM shape...let the mind recover..before you start down that road again.

There's no reason why you can't go out and continue to "train". I would keep it super easy, though. You may feel great, but body is still recovering.
I think the plan on this site is one that start at very low volume. I think, even 1-1.5 months after your WA IM, your tolerance for volume will be higher than that of the training plan. I don't think you need to or should start at the beginning.
If the plan you had for your last race worked, why not use that but tweak it a bit to work on one of your limiters. For instance, if your swim was weak, add 1-2 more days of swimming per week to get the volume up a bit.

Hi guys,
Just a few questions for you concerning the ironman training programme that is on the site here.
First question relates to how long off should you have after completing an ironman?? I did the WA ironman Dec 3rd and have chilled out/drunk beer since then.....now despite feeling ready to start training hard again it is obviously better to rest but for how long......as I have never done any endurance events before I have no idea how long it takes your body to recover from this!!
Second question, I dont know if you guys have seen the ironman training programme on here from the supercoach network but it basically lays out a 6month plan which starts off easy and then increases intensity throughout.....I have entered the france IM on the 24th June so that gives me like 6months and 1 week, should I start from scratch again on the programme where the work load is very small or should I skip the first 2months say and start at half way through the programme where the workload is much higher but now more of what I am acustomed to? I just feel if I followed the early months I would lose some of the benefits that the real long distance runs (3-4hrs) and long bikes (4+hrs) give you which i worked so hard to get in the first place!!
Well let me know what you think any advice would be much appreciated!!
