Training Program Volume Input
What distance are you training for? How far out until the race? How are you fitness wise at this point? Do you have any limiters (areas needing improvement)?
do you seriously bike for 53 exact minutes?
make it easy on yourself and round those numbers. Just make it 1hour, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1:30, etc.
put in an extra run day, thus being sunday. you can make it short, like the other short day, but another day would be better. unless you need to do certain workouts on certain days, just mess with it until you figure it out.
EDIT to add: what distances are you covering in each of your workouts?

As of right now I'm planning on doing a sprint tri in march/april, an olypic tri in june or july, and maybe a half-ironman in the fall if I feel up to it. My goal is the olympic tri.
I don't really feel like I have any limiters right now. I feel like all of my workouts are pretty balanced in terms of effort.

Those times are just target times from my spreadsheet. That's a goal I try and meet, but no, I don't bike for exactly 53 minutes.
I try and keep one day off a week. I ran distance in high school and college, and found that day off to be necessary for recovery and mental stability. Often it doesn't end up being a totally off day, I'll end up playing racquetball with friends, or lifting weights or something to that effect. It's just not a training day per se.
As for distances...in a 45 minute swim I'll usually cover 2000-2500 meters. My bike speed ranges from 17-20 mph, depending on the distance I'm riding and how fast the group I'm with goes. I'm probably in the neightborhood of an 8 mile minute during my runs. I aim for time and effort during my workouts, not necessarily a distance. My bike workouts tend to be much longer than my goal time, as most groups I ride with do 40-50 miles, but my run and swim times are usually pretty close. I'm not doing any interval training at this point, just building a base.

I've just started tri training, and have based my training program on a program from http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/. I'm starting with 6 worksouts a week; a short and long workout of each sport. I plan to increase in volume 10% each week, with a decrease each 4th week for recovery. I was just wondering how I should break down the volume of each sport. Right now I consider myself about equally balanced in ability. Here's my current schedule:
Mon: Long Run 44m
Tue: Short Bike 53m
Wed: Long Swim 44m
Thur: Short Run 26m
Fri: Short Swim 26m
Sat: Long Bike 88m
Sun: Off
Swim total: 70
Bike total: 141
Run total: 70
This puts me at 25% running, 25% swimming, 50% biking. Does this seem right? The distances seem easy right now, but when I look two or three months down the line, that 10% a week really adds up, so I'm being patient.
Thanks all.
