What distance is your race? A front-mounted hydration system is nice for longer stuff, but not a must have for your first sprint. Same with the wetsuit (though I use one in sprints whenever possible because of the speed advantage).
A tri jersey is good--you can wear it on the swim with minimal drag and not have to pull anything on in transition. I bet the trifuel ones will be a good deal. Speed laces are also a good idea. You didn't list sunglasses, but they're definintely good for the bike.
My basic kit:
- tri top, tri bottom
- goggles
- bike & cycling shoes
- helmet
- mounted repair kit
- 1 bottle holder for sprints, 2 for longer races (I use an aero bottle as my #1 bottle, and fill slots after that depending on distance, but the downtube cage works wonderfully as well :) )
- running shoes w/quick laces (much nicer than you'd think).
- sunglasses (don't want the tension in your face from squinting)
- hat/visor?
You really only need a wetsuit if you're going to be swimming in water that's colder than what you're comfortable with. There are the bouyancy benefits of course, but that's usually secondary as to whether you'll first wear the suit. Personally, I don't wear them for sprints, but to each their own.

I can't believe I forgot to mention the mounted repair kit!
Vats, opinions on trifuel will vary, but it's your first race and you want to finish, so carry a blowout kit and make sure you know how to use it before the race.
Yep, opinions vary. My personal one is that I'm going to change a flat and keep going even on a sprint. Thankfully I haven't had to use it during a race yet *knocks on wood*

I always bring a race belt. Your running number only needs to be worn when crossing the finish line, so there's no need to have it on the bike. It's best to just drop off your bike and helmet, slide on shoes (b/c there's no need to tie them...my favorite laces are yankz), and bring the number with you to buckle on while running.
I also just use normal bottles and cages unless I'm doing a HIM. If you do get front-mount hydration, though, fit depends on your bars. If they come together towards the base bar, the water bottle will slide right on. If they come straight back, however, you will need a mounting bracket. You can most likely buy one wherever you buy the bottle.

What, no ipod to listen to pre-race? No folding chair? Man--you travel light, beads. :)
(To be fair, I think my packing list for IMWI was significantly longer than that. Not everything made it into the race bags, obviously, but it still felt like I was planning a two week wilderness trek--with a bicycle. And I STILL didn't have enough warm/dry clothing!).

I usually get to a race early so I get good parking.
I check in, set up and go back to my car to relax, listen to tunes, and keep warm.
I wouldn't want to lose my iPod in the transition area!!:D

I'll second that - regarding not having the appropriate clothes for IMWI! For 2007 I will ignore the forecasts and bring clothes for all conditions. Lesson learned!

Hey everyone I had some questions as to what I would need come race day. I plan on doing my first tri this upcoming summer and wanted to get some gear on clearance. So what would I need? I was thinking about a front mounted hydration system but I wanna make sure it will fit on my Felt s32. Also i was thinking about quick laces for my running shoes. I have tri shorts so I need a top too. One that isnt really expensive. I dont have a wetsuit and idk if its worth the money right now plus I have been lifting a lot to get my strength up and im gaining some weight. I have a bike, helmet, shoes (run and bike) and goggles. Thanks everyone in advance.
