Hey guys I am relocating to charleston sc. I didn't know if anyone in here was in the same town or not just thought I would ask around. I am relocating without my wife and it will be 3-6 months before she can move down. It would be cool to meet up with people in charleston that like to train for tri. If you know anyone or have a room available for rent that would be cool. I have a small dog that is crate trained.

lucky you... i love charleston. they have the charleston sprint tri series every summer. running/biking over the ravenel bridge is cool too.

OK, so i'm no help with the roommate issue... but here's a free bump to the top of the board!

i actually live in columbia, SC for school (USC), greenville, SC every other semester for my co-op, and in Aiken, SC (hometown) over breaks.

if you want live on the actual charleston peninsula, the med school and college of charleston are there so it seems like there are lots of apartments and rooms for rent bc of all the students.

my older bro is in med school in charleston with his wife so i visit fairly often. they live in the middle of historic charleston a few blocks from downtown in the very bottom floor of a big historic house (old slave quarters actually). their rent is around $800 a month for 1 big bedroom, kitchen, and 2 big open living/dining rooms, one of which is split in half and converted to another bedroom when i visit.

another friend at CofC lives a few blocks away and shares a 2-bedroom section of a big house and pays about $500 a month each.

you'll enjoy it down there. the cooper river bridge run is pretty huge and well known, so check that out too.

i know christri on this message board did the sprint tri series in charleston, but i don't know if he's from around there.

the sprint series is put on by the local tri club: http://www.charlestontriathlonclub.com/ . i'd check them out if you were looking for more events and training partners.

My brother lives in Charleston - was in Mt Pleasant but is now closer to Daniel's Island. We went down this spring for the East Cooper Coastal tri. Good local race, would recommend it in late April. He's already got a roommate, so can't offer you mid- to long-term housing, but if you end up needing a place to crash for a few days before your lease kicks in he could put you up (although I didn't ask about the dog...). Email me if you need to.

I live in Charleston, actually Daniel Island, but its all the same. There is plenty of short-term stuff to rent on Daniel Island, depending how much you're willing to pay. You could certainly find cheaper places to live, but you get what you pay for.

When are you moving down? If its a few months, I may be able to set you up. If its immediate, it may be a little harder.

Charleston is a great tri/run town. East Cooper Tri in the spring, Sprint Series in the summer, and Kiawah tri in the fall.
