Disney! Who's in?
Of course I am in for the trifecta.
5k Friday, 1/2 mary Saturday and full mary Sunday
AKA "the Dopey Challenge"
I'll be wearing my sportkilt too!!:D
Half...but now i dont know because i have a Board of Directors Meeting friday night and saturday morning. i am talking with my advisor about coming late to the meeting for the race
If you get a flat, and don't have a tube, Suck it up and run it in!!!
I'm jealous because I'll be missing the party this year. I didn't sign up in time, and my foot has prevented significant running lately anyway. :(
Have a blast and I'll see you all for Goofy Challenge 2008, if not sooner.
Maybe we set up a meeting before the races and a little post race party too!!:D
Anybody else going with a costume this year??:D
Just the Kilt, beads...although I found some great stuff at

I was just razzing you, Anton. Running Funky has so many cool designs, and their service is great. The tights I wore last year were from them.

I guess getting your legs removed and your torso turned to plastic does make shaving easier... but I think it's going to hurt your time! AND HE DOESN'T HAVE A MOUTH!?!?! How will you talk enough that Anton knows it is you???

from what people tell me I usually talk out of my butt so that shouldn't be a problem :D
I will get some pix posted of me in the kilt soon enough.
Scott! Our kilts are almost identical!
Still looking for a cool kilt pin and skipping the sporan...
Two days it is!...I'll change tops though.

Hey All-
Ive been hearing some rumors from past Disney finishers, that there is a large section where you can run on the shoulder, as it is "shoft, florida grass". Has anyone run the course before, and remembered seeing anything like this?
Thanks!

I Believe In Cross Country
Saw it last year..and is possible in some places...you have to careful about holes and how the surface slopes away from the road..in many places it is fine however...but...leave the X-C spikes at home :) !

For first timers or to psyche yourself up, I've attached my race report from the 2006 Goofy Challenge. You might find useful info in there regarding logistics, etc.
Don't forget your garbage bags!
Weather conditions on race day (or days for us goofies)
Sat: start temps 61 degrees high of 81.
Sun: 63 high of 84
chance of T-storms.
Just a tad warmer than last year!

I know I just checked the weather....UGH!!! Last year's weather was fine by me. Oh well, shorts!
I was good with it last year too... May have to re-think the kilt thing...especially on Sunday...

Have to play it by ear.
Even with the increased ventilation of the kilt it might be a bit toasty.
I will give it a go.
I am going to die (like 2 years ago)---It was 30this Sat morning when we ran--thats a 50 + degree swing. Its 44 now so off I go for a run (raining)
2 years ago was rough.
I was training in the cold in New Jersey.
It started out in the mid 30's and then jumped to the mid 80's by 9am.
Wow! After reading Kona's RR, I'm seriously considering tights for muscular compression. But tights in the mid 80s? The weather today says a high of 74, with 72% humidity. Hmmm.

If you want compression, just wear long-ish bike shorts. Pretend you're in a triathlon!
Me--even 60 will feel HOT to me, so I'll be wearing as little as possible.
My Code Red is defizzing as we speak!
Personally I wear shorts in anything 40 and above--then switch to tights. This is going to be warm--2 years ago was pretty rough coming from cold and rain to hot... I will be in shorts and sleeveless.
While it is always better to look good than to feel good,I suffer in the heat...I may have to save the kilt for the party and run in shorts/tri top.
Latest forecast is start in the mid 60's both days, high of 81 for the half and 84 for the full.
Hope the TSA lets me bring my bottle of Succeed! Caps.

Yikes!!
This could be the wrong year for running in the kilt. :(
If the start is going to be that warm I will probably have to wear a sleeveless top and shorts.
I might do the kilt for the 1/2.
Anybody want to meet up Friday for the Expo?
Sometime after the Friday morning 5k.
Lunch anybody?
Good luck you guys! Have fun over there!

It was much warmer at Disney than last year.
I wore shorts for the 5k.
Anton and I had the kilts for the 1/2 marathon. They were soaked by the end of the race.
The marathon was even warmer so I am glad I skipped the kilt for that one.
How did everybody do at Disney?
I didnt do disney, but I did another half just a little north of Disney. It was nice and toasty for sure. I was suffering, but it bought me comfort that all you northerners at Disney were liekly hurting even more!
I have a nice light weight race outfit I use in the summer. It was soaked. So were my socks. Awful.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Congrats beads (and all others who finished)!
