I am considering these three bikes. The 2006 kestrel airfoil pro with ultegra 10 spd ($1800), the planet-x pro carbon stealth w/dura ace (2499) the QR seduza (rougly $2000). Is there any significant aero advantage to the kestrel ??? Any help would be great!!

Just getting a decent tribike at all will be a big improvement over a converted road bike (or no bike at all). However, it's always hard to find unbiased information about bikes. I don't think people like publishing exact wind tunnel test data unless they have the best product on the market (and if you're like me you don't want to spend $20K on a BMC TimeMachine....or what ever else is really the best bike out there). That said, they're all good bikes and will help you get faster (provided you keep tuning the motor), but I did find this article about the Kestrel.

My only concern would be the stiffness of the bike without a seattube. Would a lower power transfer negate the aero advantage? I don't know, but good luck with your research, hope this article helps!

I'm not going to start a "he rides it so you should" debate, but Macca rode the Airfoil Pro in Kona and I don't think he had a problem with power transfer.

disclaimer: I am completely unbiased to your bikes being listed. I ride SCOTT.

On that note, I really like the Planet X. Maybe cause I really like black, maybe cause it just looks sweet.

Are you sure its the Airfoil for $1800 and not the Talon? The Airfoil's price is usually more comparable to the upper end bikes. If it IS the airfoil, let me know where you are getting this steal of a deal.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I have never ridden the Airfoil Pro... I got to check one out up close..

However I do own a Talon SL and I have ridden the Planet X.
...
ride them both. Downhill fast... see which one you feel more comfortable on.

After 3 seasons i'll be selling my Talon to but a Planet X before IMLP.
