If you could take a few days vacation to train, where would you go? Imagine you are from the north and would like warmth! I have airline reward miles, but don't know where to go.

Criteria:
Nice open roads, a fab pool or warm open water, and great trails or roads with scenery.

Where I usually take my training vacations...Lake Placid.
Swim in Mirror Lake..bike the great roads and run...roads and for a real a$$ kickin'..the trails. I love it there and have scheduled two training sessions there before IMLP '07.

If it's a vacation with my wife and son training is discouraged. If however my parents are along it's a requirement since both my parents race. I think the best place we've been recently was Virginia Beach. Nice open water, or a very nice local Y if you're the pool type. Nice long boardwalks and streets along the ocean for runs, and there is a local shop that has open training rides throughout the week.

johnyT- if you want warm, little chance of rain, running trails and good pavement I would head to Phoenix. Rent a car then drive east about 25 miles to Apache Jct. Don't know about a place to swim. Landscape a little different than Toronto. There are trails to run and hike in the Superstition Mtns. You will be alone.
Happy vacation.
