I have started my first week of dedicated IM training. Just to give every one a little back ground I started Tri's in 05 with a sprint. Since then I have done one HIM (5:40), one Oly (2:22) and 5 Sprints (mixed times) and 4 marathons and three half marathons. I decided to do Ironman AZ after I just longed to push my body into oblivion. Well on Monday I started on a dedicated training program for the Ironman. I am using the beginner triathlete program to help me through. The reason I chose this one was because it had no strength training (which I do not care for I want to just last through it not be top three.) Well I just wanted to announce my official dedication to the IM. Wish me luck...

Good luck...Hopefully you are still doing core work - that is really helpful especially for IM training. A strong core really helps each of the other disciplines. Again good luck with the IM prep!

Good luck with your training!!!
I can´t wait to be in your shoes in a near future and finish an IM someday. For now.... i´ll keep on focusing on IM 70.3

I have heard nice things about the AZ race; good luck again!

I ran a marathon in Phoenix and it was pretty flat does any one know if IM AZ is flat too?

The bike course has a gradual incline but nothing steep. The run is flat as well. The weather should be somewhere in the 80's :)

Yahoo and good training. My very best advice is to have fun with your training. Keep that in mind during the hours you will dedicate to this achieve the goal.
I have done the course twice. There are no significant hills on the bike or run course but it can be very windy and/or hot.
Best of luck to you.

Good on you jstyle! It always feels good to have a goal on the distant horizon. Start my training cycle soon for IMLP (my third)
We should get out together sometime sice you're in the "neighborhood."

Where I live now in Gainesville, VA there is nothing but hills. I am hoping to find it flat as water. I think the key is much in the same way it was when I started Marathon training is to remember the end goal. Visualize the finish and hit replay 80 billion times.

Anton we do need to get together some time. I like to get my butt handed to me from time to time to keep me humble :) Seriously shoot me a PM some time if you want to ride.
