Well everyone I just finshed my first 5K. I finshed in 33:27. I am a little disapointed with that because I wanted to finish in about 30:00 I have only been running since Sept. so I guess it wasn't that bad plus I am going to use the excuse that is was a cold and very windy. It is also a bit discouraging to watch people pass you while there pushing there baby stroller. Please tell me that I am not the only person out there this happens to. I did registered for another 5K on Dec. 8th so hopefully I will have a better time and not so many baby strollers will pass me.

Congrats on a good first race! That's a better pace than I was running after only a couple of months of training. Times will definitely improve with training. Good luck in December!

Congratulations on your first 5k. Don't worry about getting passed by anybody, just focus on your race. A whole lot of improvement is going to take place in the next couple of months and years.

In one of my first races I was passed by a 12 year old kid and a guy with a big dog that didn't look too fast.

Big Congrats man!!! Your first 5k...
During a race to matter how long or short it is, there are always many variables that play a roll and sometimes take our plans down. Maybe the wind...the low temperatures, are good explanations, but as long as you keep racing, trainning, good diet, good sleep, you´ll become more experienced, seasoned, and you´ll see how your times start to look much much better
Best of luck in December!

Don´t worry about it, if it´s your 1st race you only have room to improve, you´ll see.

Let us know how it goes on December.

Think of it this way..
You got your first PR!!!

Seriously,

You have to start somewhere, and keep it going.
It takes a while to build up a base of fitness.

Congrats and good luck on the next 5k, and then a 10k and so on!!

Nothing to it, but to do it

Don't worry about people passing you.. there are some super mom's out there that can run real fast with strollers!
I did a 7.5km the other day and was 2nd in my age group.. but still got beaten by a bunch of 12 year old kids.. Looks can be deceiving when it comes to running!

Congrats on your first 5k, and your first 5k pr ;)

Regarding the baby stroller and such...don't think more about it. We've people who are sometimes faster with their strollers, and handidly beat the high school teams around here (along with the good majority of the rest of us) all the time.

Keep your head up! The first few are going to be tough, but you will get faster if you are consistent in your running. Be happy and proud that you are out there doing it.

You got passed by some people with strollers. It happens. You still finished faster than every couch potato who didn't bother running that day.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. Up until now my run training has been running around my nieghborhood. But today after the race I joined a local running club. Now my training will consist of track work, tempo runs and long runs so hopefully I will have a new PR in Dec.

BIG CONGRATS!!! on your first 5K. I think you did super. Don't worry too much about the time, you're going to improve with every run and every race.

Anyway, baby strollers give an unfair advantage; they give the runner something to hold onto for perfect balance allowing them to run faster.;)

Keep on racin'.
