I'm more than happy to give you any information that I can. First, LP is a small town with no "real" airport (i.e. commercial traffic) so you'll have to fly in and drive to LP. I've always driven to the race so I can't say what the options are. However, as far as hotels, there are a number of them located in downtown LP. Look for one on Main Street or Sarnac Lake Drive. These will most likely be more expensive, but are within easy walking distance to the race venue. Traffic is heavy on race week and it really pays to be within walking distance. As another possibility, there are houses to rent as well.

I have always stayed at the Crowne Plaza. It's a nice place and is probably as close as you can get to transition and start. They have outstanding made to order breakfast and pasta buffets served daily.

Finally, do make your reservations for accomodations ASAP. I'm sure you know how quickly the race fills, well, as I said LP is small and there is limited hotel space. I would try to have a place by the new year to avoid any trouble or having to stay outside the general area. Good luck with your preparations and training.

If you're looking for a cheap place to stay the KOA Kampground in Wilmington, NY (~10mi from LP) still had spaces 7 days before race day.

Thanks for the info. Here are my two options so far.

1) Flying into Buffalo and driving.
2) Flying into Albany and driving.

Any one know what the driving time might be?

Thanks for the hotel suggestions.

Have you considered flying into Burlington, VT or Montreal? I drove from Syracuse last year to watch and it was a ~4 hour drive. Burlington is only 80 so miles from LP. Montreal is ~110.

Buffalo will be about 6 hours and Albany about 3.

I drive but know folks who have come in via Burlington although it's not a direct for you...about 2.5 hours.
Albany is good too and I concur with the three.
Hopefully you already have a room...
See Ya there! It'll be my third.
