hello all. i am new to the sport of triathlon. however i have only done one race but placed first in my age group. i was awful on the swim. my team coach has helped me out alot but he cannot be with me everytime i swim. he tells me that you are not supposed to swim with you stomacah facing down. you should be rotating to your sides. i was wondering if anyone has any tips to help acheive this

David,

That technique your coach was talking about, rotating from side to side is what Total Immersion is all about. Total Immersion They have books, dvd and coaches that will teach you that form of swimming.

I've been swimming the way I have (stomach down) for 30+ year and it's been hard learning this new form. Swimming is my best thing and I still do very well swimming the way I do.

Hope this helps,

Image your hand out, palm down, and you have a ball berring on your hand. You want to roll the ball berring across the top of your hand, but its not rolling off. Your body should be moving like that.

Some people roll more than others. Look at the thread about pro videos. There are lots of examples of how you should look while you swim.
