Title explains it all, what were some of the best things you got at a triathlon that made the expensive registration fee seem a little more worth it (besides the actual race of course)?

A very nice sweatshirt at one tri, otherwise usually water bottle and a tee shirt.
Marathons seem to give out better shirts - dri-weave etc.

I got a flask and a bottle of gel in a drawing at the HIM I did this year, and a pretty cool long sleeve t-shirt.

I have gotten a dri-fit type of shirt, water bottle, and some gels and power bars.

Nothing to it, but to do it

I got a boy! Oh, you mean from the race organizers? hmm...

I always like the race waterbottles as they remind me of the fun on later training days.

At IM Florida 70.3 this year I won a prize package from Clif Bar - you had to write down questions you wanted the pros to answer at a Q&A later that day. If they picked your question you won! I won a large Timbuk2 bag, a box of Clif Nectar bars, a box of Clif peanut butter bars, a box of Clif Builder protein bars, a box of Clif Shots (Razz flavor), a box of packets of their recovery powder, and a container of their powdered electrolyte drink.

Best free from a race packet - coupons to a sporting goods store? Gus?

I do like getting nice waterbottles... the t-shirts are usually too big, even some smalls and i have more pj shirts than i know what to do with..
I have won some pretty nice stuff though. Bags, running tights, visor, gift certificates, a watch, socks, coffee mug, embroidered towels, etc... I love winning back my entry fee...

Towels with race specific stuff on them! I like the misc race junk (mugs, bottles, etc), the tees are too hit or miss.

Worst I've ever gotten was nothing, shirts were suppose to be mailed out to us; called a few times tryin to track mine down. Still waitin. Funny thing is I was offered one at packet pick up, but since i was a later registar I didn't want to take somebody elses shirt that had signed up before me.

2005 World Masters Games i got a real nice dry weave t-shirt and an awesome backpack with the games logo on it.

At another race i got a pair of tri-shorts. Still use them to train in.

I also have hanging from my office wall, a finisher towel from my 1/2 Im i did last summer.

Best raffle prize was from Harvest Moon HIM this year...Zip 808s! (ok, technically the husband won them, but he just bought new race wheels, so I'm claiming these)

Best race shirt like thing...bags or good running hats. The only problem with these is the first one or two you get are great. But you don't need much more than that.

the only one i remember is the ICE cold water bottle given at the end of the Musselman Tri this summer. It was hot as it gets out, and that water never felt so good.

1993 at the Kelowna Apple Oly Tri, I won a pair of Look clipless pedals on which I still race today - value $210 CDN.
- donated by Fresh Air Experience - a great bike/running/tri store in Kelowna. (Thanks, guys!)

I was the last man to finish in 3:37:00, but I won a door prize. heh.

I won a $100 gift cert. to my local running shoe store in a drawing, in terms of schwag, I got cool techical fabric race t-shirt, with a good design on it too (but I guess my entry fee paid for that, so it wasn't really free).

I'm assuming the materialistic side of the question :p

A hat and gear bag, though it required finishing the race for 'em
As entry - it's just been shirts and water bottles thus far...though the after race food is always wonderful!

You were an influence but the big seller was the cute massuese lady who after my first massage advised how it would much easier and feel better if my legs were shaved.
