If I cannot wear a wetsuit, then what do I wear?
check the website for the race. It should say whether or not the race will be wetsuit legal or not. If there are not wetsuits allowed, you can just swim in your shorts and top and go straight to the bike from there. That's the most effective way to do it.
A biochemical warfare suit would prolly be wise. ;) I don't think the Hudson would get over 78, though.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
No, that time of year you're still good. Try not to swallow any water though! My office is right on the Hudson and I run the walkway everyday...
I've seen what floats in the river.

Is it really that dirty? I mean, the site said that the river is checked and safe to swim in.

Sorry, I shouldn't have been flip, it's just part of local myth that we still joke about. The water in the race area is tested and verified swimmable for all events.
Now, the Jersey side is something else.:D

Just as the title said. I want to wear a wetsuit but if the water is above 78 degrees, I cannot wear it. I'm doing the NYC tri, does the hudon river get that warm? I tried to look for an average temp on google but came up with nothing. Thanks!
