Hiya guys,

I'll be coming into a bit of money thanks to the end of year company bonus and am looking to splurge on a set of race wheels. Have been looking at the following:

Zipp 404's
Hed Jet 60's
Hed Stinger 60's
Planet X Pro Carbon 50's

Was wondering if anyone has experience with these wheels and could provide some feedback.

Cheers :)

I don't know your price range, but if you want spoked wheels, why not Zipp 808's or Stinger 60/90 combo. Or Zipp 606. Blackwell 100's. Blackwell 100/Disco rear.

If I had to choose from the ones you listed, I'd go with the Stingers. They are every bit as good as the Zipp's, but they aren't Zipps. I don't have anything against Zipp, nothing at all, but everyone has them. Why not be different?

I'm searching for a photo of the blackwell research Disco. I'll put it up when i find it.

I'm with glbrum. Zipp's are so common, everyone has them. I'm sponsored by my LBS so i have access to bontrager wheels. i love the bontrager carbon aero's, they are just like Zipp 404's but i think they are faster and cost less. Also have a look at the bontrager Aeolus they are super fast and well priced.

I ride the 404's in races and love them, but I think any high end wheel is going to give you a lot of extra perfromance regardless. They are all good, though sometimes I question the real return in performance for some of the really high dollar rims. You won't be dissapointed with any of the one's you listed, I doubt you would notic emuch of a difference bewteen spending $1200 vs. spending $2500, if you get my drift. :)

I like my Zipp 404's but I got a really good price on them at the time. I don't think you have to spend a fortune, and as mentioned above I think any of the choices above are good ones.

The best upgrade you can do is to the engine. More time in the saddle. :D
