Another relocation question...Flagstaff AZ
it gets cold and snows in the winter--maybe not as bad as where you are from but if you are looking to run in shorts through the winter, that may not be the place to be.
I'm originally from CT, so I know how awful Northeast winters can be. Flagstaff is very beautiful and very high, nearly 8000ft. The weather can be very chageable, going from warm and sunny to cold and rain and back again in an hour. That's common for living at altitude. The winters, though chilly, have been very dry, with very little snow. I would live up there if we had a local office. It's like a little slice of Colorado in AZ. There is definately a very active triathlon, running, cycling, hiking culture up there with tons of races between Tuscon, Phoenix, and Flag. If you get too cold, Phoenix is less than 2 hours away and the temps are 30 degrees warmer!

Of course it's 'effing hard, it's IRONMAN!

I keep seeking your input as we narrow down our search for our relocation...
Last summer we spent 2 wks in Flagstaff AZ (in July) and I fell IN LOVE with it. Of course, we did not experience a Flagstaff winter. We are currently in northeast PA (winters = cold, ice, snow, gray skies) and I want to leave that behind...
Anyone out there with Flagstaff experience? Asheville NC is also on our short list. I am definitely looking for an outsdoorsy community preferrably with a decent tri community.
Thanks again!
